Tweet-native tipping now includes Ethereum wallet addresses, Twitter announced on Wednesday.
In September, the social media company began offering bitcoin tips. Now, Ethereum wallets can also be added to the product. This is only available via mobile.
Twitter has been exploring the Ethereum ecosystem continuously. Last month, Twitter Blue subscribers began receiving non-fungible token (NFT) verification.
However, all users who agree to the company's tipping policy are entitled to Ethereum wallet support.
It was confirmed by the spokesperson that the new feature would not support domain names generated by the Ethereum Name Service (ENS).
At press time, it was unclear whether tipping will be supported using ERC-20 tokens and stablecoins – rather than just ether, the native asset of the Ethereum blockchain.
"We are adding new options for creators and fans to get paid on Twitter, which includes the option to add their Ethereum address to Tips," Johnny Winston, lead product manager of creator monetization at Twitter says. "We’re excited to add this capability."
The social media site announced that its tips feature is now available in Nigeria, Ghana, and India.
It is notable that these developments came several months after former CEO Jack Dorsey left the company.
Dorsey runs payments company Block (formerly Square) full-time. He is a Bitcoin maximalist who places little stock in Ethereum. Block has announced Bitcoin mining rigs and a decentralized exchange for sending bitcoins and fiat in the last half-year.
