Last December, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced a surprising initiative to Square Crypto that was dubbed "Blue Sky" to support an independent team of up to five open source architects, engineers, and designers to develop an open and decentralized standard for social media. The Blue Sky project would effectively create a decentralized version of the entire Twitter platform and current Twitter users and APIs would integrate and migrate their data into a more open exchange of content and ideas, which sounds similar to the Telegram API. Telegram was hacked very publicly in July 2020 with high profile accounts such as Elon Musk, Obama, Kanye West, Bill Gates and others were taken over in a Bitcoin scam, so it makes sense for Jack and the entire Blue Sky team to explore ways to give users the keys to their own content on Twitter and decentralize.
