The Grammy-winning rapper Eminem has acquired a Bored Ape Yacht Club worth 123.45 ether, or approximately $462K, on the OpenSea platform.
The ape, wearing a brown military-style hat and hip-hop clothing, became Eminem's Twitter profile picture.
About 20 NFTs have been bought by the Detroit native under the name Shady_Holdings on OpenSea.
Eminem has won 15 Grammy awards in his career, dating back to the 1980s, and has been named one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time by Rolling Stone Magazine.
Eminem has not yet commented publicly on GeeGazza's sale of the blonde ape. GeeGazza, another BAYC member, said that becoming a reality was "madness," adding that he was "living in a simulation."
It had been GeeGazza's intention to sell this ape to Eminem for months. He stated, in November, that he believes Eminem has destined to buy my Bored Ape. He added, "You have no idea how long I have been manifesting that he purchases my ape."
Eminem's BAYC NFT was sold to the digital agency Six, which claims credit in a tweet for helping secure the ape, which they call the "EminApe." (The ape does indeed look like the rapper.)
Among its previous clients were the rap group Wu-Tang Clan and the electronic artists Tycho and Galantis.
Eminem's new EminApe is officially part of OpenSea's second-largest NFT project by volume. According to CryptoSlam, BAYC has $987 million in secondary sales so far, and the floor price is sitting at $220K.
Aside from NBA star Stephen Curry and talk show host Jimmy Fallon, Eminem has joined the list of celebrities who have aped in.
Despite just starting in April 2021, bored apes recently surpassed CryptoPunks in floor price.
