Following a business deal with NFT marketplace UNXD, Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) has expanded its NFT collection into Polygon.
Under the moniker "DGFamily NFT community," UNXD will serve as the platform of the initiative that will grant users access to a collection of exclusive products via a pass called "DGFamily Box."
It debuted back in September 2021 under the name Collezione Genesi. This was the world's first "couture NFT collection," featuring nine pieces inspired by Venice.
There were 142 diamonds and seven sapphires in "Doge Crown," the most popular piece in the collection. For over $1.2 million, it was sold to a private collector.
According to a D&G executive, DGFamily is a continuation of what they've always done, but with digital technology. They added that "the first drops and experiences will be really special."
There will be multiple designs in different boxes for each piece in the collection, with different rarities for each one.
The supply and prices of the different boxes have yet to be announced, but Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were responsible for the design of each item.
As a result, there will be fewer than 10,000 boxes manufactured to ensure a reasonable level of rarity.
On March 26, UNXD will release the first D&G Family Box. Wrapped ETH (wETH) will be used for sales, facilitated by Polygon's scaling network.
Through a bridge between the Ethereum and Polygon networks, wETH can be acquired by buyers. However, delivery will be via a bridge to Polygon, while minting will take place on Layer 1 Ethereum.
