Bitcoin reached a market cap of $717 billion today, passing Tesla at $716 billion for the first time, according to Cryptowatch. To add insult to injury, one bitcoin now costs more than a Tesla Model 3 as listed on their website. Bitcoin just broke $40,000 for the first time in history today, and quickly reset to $37,100 before recovering to $38,600 at time of writing. Bitcoin's market cap at $716 billion is astonishing, this is an increase of over 10% since yesterday when it had a market cap of $640 billion. Bitcoin has overtaken Tesla and ranks as the seventh most valuable asset in the world behind Facebook, Amazon, and Apple. Some redditors pointed out that a base Model 3 goes for $36,490 according to Tesla website and one bitcoin goes for $38,735 at time of writing, making a single bitcoin more valuable. Some analysts have predicted Bitcoin to have a market cap of $2.7 trillion by the end of 2021 if this buying trend continues. It's worth pointing out, Tesla has a slightly higher valuation of $768 billion on many other financial websites, so this headline might be jumping the gun, and there are theoretically 18,593,837 available bitcoin at a price of $40,000, gives a $743 billion market cap. This would put Teslas still $20 billion in the lead, but compare for yourself on Asset Dash.
